Description

Join us at the farm on Friday, May 10 for the inaugural Camelot Middle Grades Spring Campout! This year’s nature-based themes will culminate in a magical evening of campfire cooking, wilderness skills, and storytelling under the stars. This is an exciting chance to preview what our summer camps have to offer, all while celebrating nature and our Camelot community!

What is the schedule for the campout?

Students will depart for the farm from Camelot at 4 PM on Friday. Pickup will take place at Camelot between 9:15 and 9:30 on Saturday morning.

How many students will be there?

To ensure adequate staff supervision, we have capped attendance at 12 students. Only current Camelot Middle Graders in good standing are eligible to attend.

What if it rains?

If the weather is inclement, we have set aside the following Friday (May 17) as a backup date.

What about food?

Dinner will be provided (with dietary restrictions accommodated). Students should bring an extra snack to have during the 3:00 dismissal period before we leave for the farm. A light morning snack will be provided on Saturday while we break down camp.

Can parents attend?

Yes! Parent chaperones are needed – please let us know if you would like to stay the night. If you chaperone, you will meet us at the farm at 4:30 PM. All parent chaperones must be background checked, and are expected to assist with setup, breakdown, dinner prep, and supervision of the whole group.

What is the cost?

Registration is $60 per student and covers supplies, dinner, and staffing. Parent chaperones stay free of charge.

Will there be bathrooms?

We have a porta-potty on site that will be available for use during the trip. There will not be running water or showers available, but we will provide extra drinking water.

What should my student bring?

On Friday, students should arrive to school with everything they need.

Required items: pajamas, change of clothes for the next day, toiletries, pillow, sleeping bag

Optional but encouraged items: tent or hammock, flashlight, bug spray

Please do not send anything valuable, electronic, or highly breakable.

What about cell phones?

Students with cell phones may bring them and they will be stored with teachers, just like at school. Parents will be provided with staff phone numbers in case you need to urgently reach us.

What if we don't have camping gear?

Not a problem! We don't want people having to buy loads of gear specifically for this trip. Some may opt just to sleep under the stars! If you're concerned about tents or any other gear, reach out to us and we'll help find a solution. If you have an extra tent to loan, please let us know.

What if my child takes medication at night?

All medication (prescription or otherwise) must be signed in with Camelot staff unless you (the parent) are staying the night. Staff will administer medication as directed. Medication must be in the original bottle, clearly labeled with the student's name and with dosing instructions.
